Camp at All Ages camp a Camp at All Ages By: Christy Lee Haston, Counselor - South Main Baptist Church L ike most teenagers, summer was always a time of year that I looked forward to. Summer brought so many exciting options, but for me the best part was always going to church camp. Camp was special for numerous reasons. It was a week away from my everyday life and a time of being totally surrounded by friends and youth workers. We played silly recreation games, square danced, dressed up in funny out?ts for “date night,” and rode the zip line into the lake. While each of those brought June 20 - 24 Sagemont Church Houston, TX - www.sagemontchurch.org Theme: Rewind 16 several laughs, what really sticks out to me are the moments where God revealed something new to me through our small group Bible studies or in the evening when we would worship as a group. I think back to each year that I went to camp and remember speci?c lessons God taught me. Lessons such as what being a Christian and having a quiet time means; true love waits and remaining pure until marriage; forgiving others as Jesus has already forgiven me; and being completely sold out for Christ. I’ve been blessed to have been a camper for several years, but also I’ve spent the past three years going back each summer as the youth intern and as a member of the recreation crew. Being one of the adults makes it a different experience, but just as rewarding. As an adult I watch students wrestle with God over issues and then see Him get hold of their hearts and give them the strength to let go of the things they were clinging to so tightly.
