Nine students from the Moberly High School Drama, Speech, Debate Team (DSD) competed at the 41st Annual Salisbury Speech Contest on Saturday, January 28. There were eight teams competing including the highly competitive teams of Lexington and Harrisburg.

MHS students competed in seven individual events and four duet events. Si

students broke into finals in four individual and two duet events.

The final results yielded six medals and two individual trophies:

Poetry:

Gee (Gloria) Smith, 6th place medal

Duet Improv:

Mark Rowe & Gee Smith, 6th place medal

Dani Beal & Taylor Ludwick, 4th pl. medal

Storytelling:

Taylor Ludwick, 4th place medal

Ryan Tolbert, 3rd place trophy

Dramatic Interpretation:

Kayla Rutherford, 3rd place trophy

Additional members participating:

Alexus Hayes (Humorous Interpretation)

Lydia Brandon (Timekeeper)

To top it all off, MHS took 4th place as a team. For these students, it is the first team trophy, and they are looking forward to the next tournament. Students

will compete again in New Bloomfield on

February 18 and a

Districts in Mexico on March 3 and 4.
