The Subregion C Chronicle September/October 2015 | Page 9
Update from the Wisconsin-Upper Michigan District:
Greetings, Sub Region C!
I hope everyone is having a
WUMderful start to the semester!
My name is Five Yang, and I am a
senior at the University of
Wisconsin – Madison (Go
Badgers!). I am the WisconsinUpper Michigan District Governor.
It is my complete honor to
introduce my district to everyone.
Unlike our counterparts, Kiwanis
and Key Club, we are WUM, not WIUM. That is because we don’t believe in
“I.” We believe in “U.” The WUM District has been around for over half a
century. By the end of the 2014-15 year, WUM will have approximately 20
active clubs and over 570 members. We have several district events
throughout the year and our members are very eager to serve their
community. We are so proud to be a part of this wonderful organization and
subregion!
On behalf of the WUM District,
I would like to invite everyone
to attend our fall conference,
Membership Awareness
Conference, also known as
MAC. It is the weekend of
October 9-11 at Camp
Wawbeek in Wisconsin Dells.
Camp Wawbeek is a camp for
campers of all abilities. In the
fall we prepare the camp for the end of its season, and all money from
fundraisers will be donated to camp. There will be outdoor service projects,
midnight runs to Denny’s, a WUM’s Got Talent show, and
tons of fellowship events! This is a fun weekend and great
opportunity to meet our district. Also, we are expecting
International Board members to attend so this will be a
chance to meet them in fun and casual setting!
If you have questions or just want to talk, feel free to
contact me or add me on Facebook! My email is
[email protected] and my phone number is
920.277.0904. Have a great semester, and I look forward
to seeing what our districts and members will achieve this
year!
Yours truly,
Five Yang
