JENNIFER ALBAUGH BEN SAND Prior to joining Severson, Wogsland & Liebl, Jennifer clerked for the United States District Court, District of North Dakota, for the Honorable Chief Judge Ralph R. Erickson in Fargo, North Dakota. Before joining Judge Erickson’s chambers, she served as a law clerk for the Judges of the South Central Judicial District. Ben is originally from Fargo, North Dakota, where he graduated from Shanley High School in 2007. He received his undergraduate degree in Political Science and English Literature from Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota in 2011. While at Concordia, Ben was a member of the Cobber baseball team. He graduated cum laude from the University of North Dakota School of Law in 2014. is an associate attorney with Severson, Wogsland & Liebl, PC, in Fargo, North Dakota. She currently practices in the firms’ Family Law Division, focusing on divorces, custody disputes, adoptions, guardianships, conservatorships, and any other related matter. In 2009, Jennifer received a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of North Dakota. Jennifer earned her Juris Doctor, cum laude, from the University of North Dakota School of Law in 2012. While in law school, Jennifer was involved in Law Women’s Caucus, serving as the President and Treasurer, North Dakota Law Review and the law school’s yearly orientation program. In 2012, she was awarded The National Association of Women Lawyer’s Outstanding Law Student for her involvement in law school and leadership abilities. is a law clerk for the Honorable Daniel L. Hovland at the U.S. District Court in Bismarck. He began with Judge Hovland in September 2014, and his clerkship ends in August 2016. While in law school, Ben externed at the Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals, served as a legislative intern for the Office of the Attorney General, and clerked for a year at the Cass County State’s Attorney’s Office. Ben was also a member of the Order of the Barristers. MARKUS POWELL is an Associate with the Reichert Armstrong Law Firm in Dickinson. His practice is focused on criminal law and family law in western North Dakota and eastern Montana. He is admitted to practice in all State and Federal Courts in North Dakota and all State Courts in Montana.  A native of Sacramento, California, Markus received a bachelor’s degree in Political Science and History from Dickinson State University in 2009. Prior to attending law school, he worked in the oil fields of western North Dakota. Markus graduated from the University of North Dakota School of Law in 2014. In his free time, he enjoys traveling and hunting.  Ben is a member of the State Bar Association of North Dakota and the Big Muddy Bar Association. In his spare time, he enjoys playing amateur baseball, golfing as much as possible, and spending time with family and friends. Jennifer is the current President-Elect of the State Bar Association of North Dakota’s Young Lawyers Section. She is also a member of the Cass County Bar Association.
