Grand Forks native Kristi Pettit and Rapid
City, South Dakota, native Brett Venhuizen
attended different law schools and practiced
different types of law in Grand Forks for
several years before they met in 2009 and
married in 2011.
Kristi graduated from the University of
North Dakota in 1995 and Washburn
University School of Law in Topeka,
Kansas, in 1998. She returned to Grand
Forks and began her career with the Kalash
and Pettit Law Firm, where she continues
to practice. She is a part-time prosecutor
