YOUNG LAWYER
SHOWCASE
The North Dakota Young Lawyers Section (YLS) is
continuing to develop programming that not only supports
young lawyers in the state, but also encourages them to
become involved in their local communities. In order to
accomplish these objectives, YLS continues to plan several
events, including another year of “Feed Your Community,”
a young lawyer directory, various webinars, luncheons, and
after hour socials.
YLS once again partnered with The Great Plains Food Bank
to host “Feed Your Community.” This year’s annual food
and fund drive took place from April 6-10, in various cities
throughout the state. Once again, the legal community of
North Dakota hosted another successful drive. Thank you
to everyone who participated, donated, and in any way
assisted with this event!
The YLS annual meeting will be held at the SBAND Annual
Meeting in Bismarck on June 18, where new officers will be
elected.
Recently, YLS took on a new project – a young lawyer
directory! That’s right, a place where to find the name,
contact, and practice information for other young lawyers.
While this program is in the infancy stage, we are very
excited about it! Be on the lookout for an email on how to
“opt-in” to the directory.
The YLS Education and Professionalism Committee hosted
the April 29 webinar on “Starting a Law Practice: What
You Need to Know About Opening and Running Your
Own Firm in North Dakota.” It featured Nathan Severson
from Severson, Wogsland & Liebl, PC, and Brian Boppre
from the Boppre Law Firm. Young lawyers, as well as
other licensed attorneys, participated. Wat
