YOUNG LAWYER
SHOWCASE
As we head in to fall, the North Dakota Young Lawyers
Section (YLS) is continuing to develop programming
that not only supports young lawyers in the State, but
also encourages them to become involved in their local
communities. In order to accomplish these objectives,
YLS is in the process of planning several exciting events,
including “Feed Your Community,” Wills for Heroes,
webinars, and social events.
Last year YLS partnered with the Great Plains Food Bank
and hosted a state-wide food and fund drive called “Feed
Your Community.” This event was largely successful and
due to that, the Community Service Committee has
initiated plans to once again partner with the Great Plains
Food Bank to host “Feed Your Community.” This is a
fantastic way to get involved with your local community and
fight to end hunger in North Dakota! Information on how to
get involved will be provided as this event nears.
Wills for Heroes is a program that provides essential
legal documents free of charge to first responders. YLS is
hoping to expand this program to include Veterans. The
documents provided include wills, living wills, and powers
of attorney. This event is still in the planning stages, but it is
tentatively scheduled to be held soon.
The YLS Education and Professionalism Committee will
continue to host webinars this fall. Young lawyers, as well
as other licensed attorneys, are invited to participate in the
webinars. Please be on the lookout for information on the
upcoming webinars.
YLS will continue to host different social events, such as
luncheons or after work gatherings. The last luncheon
was tentatively scheduled for late October. Once a date is
determined an email will be sent out with specific details.
