Prosecutor Jodi Bass reviewed the
charges against the veterans, who
were represented by volunteer defense
attorneys Joe Johnson and Stormy
Vickers, both of Fargo. Each veteran
was also accompanied by a VA case
worker with knowledge of the veteran’s
particular situation.
One veteran, who had an outstanding
warrant on charges of resisting a police
officer, pled guilty to the charges. On the
recommendation of his defense attorney
with the concurrence of the prosecutor,
he was sentenced to a deferred 11 month
sentence and ordered to comply with VA
recommendations for treatment.
A second veteran had accumulated
several prior convictions, including for
shoplifting and DUI, and faced bench
warrants fo ȁ
