Sun and Moon
by Nyssa Mallari
Oh Sun, how bright you shine your rays above
Spreading warmth among the earth with all your love
Earth loves you Sun for all that you give
Light and Love are all she needs to live
She loves you Sun with all her heart
But there is one who you’ve torn apart
Dear Moon you see weeps tears of sorrow
A wound the size of Kilimanjaro
She cries and weeps for she believes you do not love her
Seeing you have eyes for only Earth is no blur
You smile at only her with your warm rays
Making Moon twist and turn in many ways
Her envy consumed and enveloped her whole
She wished to curl up into a ball and never unroll
“He’ll never love me,” she cried in dispair
“Earth is so beautiful, and lovely, and fair.”
Moon could drifted out in the coldness of space
But Sun shone so boldly as he stood in her face
“Where are you go?” he asked with a huff
Moon didn’t understand why he was acting so rough
“Why was he upset?” she wondered with a shake
She shook hard enough to make the other planets wake
Sun stood before clearly annoyed
Moon just wanted to sink into the void
