sought refuge in this magical property on the (then) edge
of town. They brought their children and grandchildren
along and spent days filled with laughter and fun. In 1870
they built a majestic mansion in their plot. Inspired by the
grand houses of South France, as the fashion of the era
dictated, it was painted the characteristic Provence pink.
Due to its historical value and uniqueness, this distinctive
colour is retained up to today, thanks to a special excep-
tion from the mandatory, all white rule that the planning
authorities have imposed on Mykonos’ structures.
20 years ago, driven by fond childhood memories and
their great love, admiration and respect for this magical
place, the descendants of these families, Stamatia and
Giorgos Zissimopoulos, decided to put their property into
good use.
