Match Report

The first game ever of what we hope would become an annual event saw the Gibraltar National Select XV verses the Royal Marines RFC in the inaugural 'Gibraltar Bowl'. In what turned out to be a 'classic' match of two evenly paired teams Gibraltar yet again proved they have the team spirit, guts and leadership to tackle some of the best.

With both teams keeping each other busy the first half finised with Gibraltar leading through Harvey Armstrong's boot 6-3.

In the second half the game took off at a pace and presented a good crowd yet again at Victoria Stadium (despite the weather) with a thrilling encounter. Gibraltar surged ahead to a 21-3 lead following Harvey Armstong and Albert Loddo's tries.

However, the never say die motto of the armed forces was again on show when the Marines in the late stages stepped up the pressure and forced Gibraltar onto the back foot through wave after wave of attacking rugby. The Marines finally got their reward and the score moved to 21-10. Despite this relentless pressure Gibraltar's brave and amazing tackling saw no further points added and the match ended 21-10 Gibraltar.

Well done guys!
