The second 20 saw the Barbarians trying to compete with a more flowing game. This time it was Gibraltar that adapted, closing down attack after attack as the strong and mighty Barbarians pushed Gibraltar to their limits. For 15 minutes an epic battle ensued, mostly around the half way line with breaks from both sets of backs. Experienced heads on both sides closed down the attacks and the tackling capability. Years of experience, showed through until just before the end when the Barbarians broke up the their right wing, turned a ruck into a rolling maul and drove forward before passing it out for a great and well deserved try. At the end of the second 20: It was Gibraltar 5: Costa Barbarians 5.

The final 20 saw the Barbarians immediately on the attack. Pressuring every lineout, ruck and maul, stealing the ball and driving Gibraltar back. For the next 10 minutes Gibraltar held firm and counter attacks were attempted, but again they could not find a hole large enough to sneak through and score. With 10 minutes to go, some great flowing play from the Barbarians saw them put together several phases of play which broke down the valiant Gibraltar defence and allowed the backs to score a great try in the corner.

With only 5 minutes to go, Gibraltar had to throw caution to the wind and try something special. The forwards again took control, creating platform after platform for the brave backs to drive into the Barbarians half. With the final whistle approaching, the Gibraltar team, under instruction, threw caution to the wind and tried to out run their opposition with some stylish play. Unfortunately the experienced Barbarians centres read the move, intercepted the ball and finished the game with a well-deserved try.

In total 53 players took part in a great exhibition of Veterans rugby that could grace any formal day of Rugby. The Barbarians again showed their class but in their 3rd year since formation, credit must go to the brave, hard-working and good tempered Gibraltar team who have yet again took a step forward in performance and quality of play.
