The John Smith’s Super IV League has now completed six rounds of fixtures. It is the Sovereign Insurance Scropions who head the table and the InLine Framing Sharks who are at the bottom having being nudged out of third place by the Kedhlow Buccaneers who have a better points difference. The Naturegroup Stormers are sitting comfortably in second place.

This season has so far seen greater participation from players with all teams being able to use their benches to good avail. The games have been very close and even, with moments of determination and the odd flash of brilliance deciding the games.

Being able to play on the great surface at Victoria Stadium has also meant that spectators have been able to see League games for the first time. We are already seeing a hard-core rugby supporters club forming and this has created a great atmosphere.

This year has also seen the formal introduction of National Team (NT) selectors attending all games. Again, this has had a positive effect by encouraging current NT players to play for their clubs whilst giving younger

players a chance to put their names forward with some great performances. This has increased the intensity and quality of play and will hopefully filter through to the future NT games on the International stage as we drive rugby forward.
