The Gibraltar Bowl

30th October 2015

Two tough games for Gibraltar.

First up the Gibraltar Veterans who faced an Invitational Select XV, with a number of

Ex Premiership stars and International players. The Invitational team ran out convincing winners but a great game was played by all in the true spirit of Vets rugby.

Final Score was 40-7 to the Invitational Select XV.

The second game was for the Gibraltar Bowl between

the Royal Marines RFC Select and the Gibraltar Select XV. This game was more evenly contested with the lead changing hands a couple of times. At half time the score was 14-12 to the Gibraltar Select. A great individual 40 meter try by 2nd Row Mark Holgate and a second try by seasoned inside centre Hamish Couper scoring Gibraltar's first half points. Conversions kicked by fly-half Jack Milton.

The forward dominance and overall experience by the Royal Marine side in the second half allowed the team to dominate the younger less experienced Gib side. Territorial control and possession took its toll and it was not long before the Royal Marines crossed the try line to take the lead. Due to a serious injury to a Marines player the match was declared a draw.

The evening finished with a successful event and auction that raised money for the Royal Marine Charitable Trust Fund.
