The GRFU recently held their annual end of season BBQ aimed at celebrating another full and successful season of Rugby on the Rock. As the Rugby club remains without a permanent home in Gibraltar this event is important to ensure that the club, its members, and supporters, come together across all age groups, from the mini's section right the way up to the grizzled old veterans.

As is tradition, the most popular part of the event is Tom Tunbridge's famous water slide which saw one or two of the more heavier veterans overshoot the runway! However, the event serves also as a celebration of the seasons activities culminating in the presentation of awards.

The 2014/15 mini's season saw the Hawks section ( Under 10's) embark on a Super IV's league sponsored by Dolphin Adventure which was won by the Scorpions team comprising Iona Sacarello, Harvey Leroy, Joshua Lee, Abi Greenberg, Sam Redman, Nicholas Cox, and Harry Lee. Awards were presented to:

Best Player: Julian Turnock

Best Improved: Archie Holgreaves and Abi Greenberg

Most Sporting: Julian Nacimiento

The Falcons ( Under 12's) had another busy year competing and winning against San Roque and Portsmouth Grammar School. They also tested themselves, falling to a marginal defeat, against a stronger and older Marbella side in front a large crowd in Victoria Stadium, the game being held as the curtain raiser for the National squads game against Malta.

Along with the Under 14's it is planned to enrol the Falcons into the Andalucian league next season.

Most improved: Kyle Clinton

Most sporting: Dino Charvetto

Best all round: Joey Sacarello

The Eagles ( under 14's) - the Academy coaches have spent a lot of time and energy during the season building our numbers and skills through our regular Tuesday and Sunday sessions. This culminated in the Spring by way of two friendly fixtures and triangular mini-tournament against sides from Marbella and the Estrecho clubs The Academy training group is growing and we are entering our Under 14's next year once again into the Andalucian league.

Best Improved: Kieran Kavanagh

Most Sporting: Daniel Brink

There is much activity to look forward to for 2015/16 season. At all age groups of the youth section, competitive small sided games will be held during training sessions every Sunday to complement the planned league and friendlies against visiting opposition from the UK. We will be sending sides to Andalucian tournaments, holding an inter school tournament for middle schools, and an Easter Tour is planned for 2016.
