The GRFU has recently led on discussions with HMGOG to build a rugby and cricket facility and in conjunction with HMGOG are pleased to announce their proposal for the facility at Europa Point.

The facility has been sensitively thought through, taking into consideration previous objections to developments on the site and has been designed by a local architect. The facility will offer a purpose built World Rugby approved pitch in accordance with World Rugby Regulation 22 on artificial surfaces and meet GCA requirements for an International Cricket Council approved wicket.

The facility will be playable all year round, features two small sided training pitches for junior football and rugby teams with cricket nets proposed to the south of the site. In addition the site will be available for community events, education departments (Schools & Colleges) and the recently opened University of Gibraltar.

The facility will be subject to the preparation of an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and approval from the Development & Planning Commission (DPC). However, it is anticipated that work on the facility could begin before the end of the year.
