A Place To Call Home!

The Gibraltar Rugby Football Union (GRFU) wishes to congratulate the GFA on its hard work in negotiating concessions with UEFA regarding the capacity of the stadium and would like to thank the HMGOG for considering the GFAs request for the proposed

re-siting of the National Football Stadium to Lathbury Barracks. The GRFU and the Gibraltar Cricket Association (GCA) have for many years worked towards a combined facility for both sports, to be afforded facilities that equal other local team sports and to be provided increased access to allocations for their growing playing membership.

The re-siting of the National Football Stadium allows for this provision at Europa Point.

For over 25 years it has been British Forces Gibraltar and facilities over the border that have provided a venue for the growth of rugby and cricket on the rock.

The GRFU is a union of four clubs, seven senior teams and following a rejuvenation of interest from overseas Gibraltarian students a strong National Representative Team that have already recorded victories over Israel, Cyprus and have an invitation to tour Malaysia and Singapore.

The mini and junior section is thriving with increased numbers and age groups competing locally leading to the appointment of a full time Rugby Development

Officer with Premiership Rugby Club experience. A similar success story is true of the GCA.
