There was still all to play for, however, as places in the League determined the playing order in the Cup, with the winners playing the last team and second and third playing each other. Ironically it was last season's League and Cup winners, the Sharks, who propped up the bottom this season and took on the Buccaneers in the first semi-final. It was an awesome game, with no quarter given by either side. The Sharks established an early lead, and despite the Buccaneers throwing everything into it, they continued to exchange tries, with the Sharks running out the eventual, and worthy, winners by five tries to four.

The Scorpions took the honours in the second semi-final, setting up the final game of the season with the Sharks. Everything was at stake, with the Sharks seeking to hold onto the Cup that they won in the 2013/14 season, and the Scorpions looking for the first ever piece of silverware.

From the outset the Scorpions took control of the game and were clearly the more determined, eventually running in 11 tries to 2. Although it was a hugely convincing win in the end, the game itself never appeared that one sided and the Sharks can be congratulated for their determination and resillience in the face of a a heavy onslaught. For the Scorpions, of course, there was the huge satisfaction of bagging their first trophy, and doing so in such a convincing manner.

Since the Super IV's were established, only five seasons ago, three different teams have won the League and there have been three different cup winners. All four clubs have basked in the glory of victory in either Cup or League competition, and the clubs and the Super IV's franchise itself, continues to develop, going from strength to strength.

Finally, a huge thanks you for the players, coaches and officials for their participation and support in another great season for Super IV's rugby.

Congratulations to The Sovereign Insurance
