John Smith's Super Iv's League

2014/15 Season Summary

It's been another great season for super IV's rugby, the collective name for the four clubs that make up the senior game in Gibraltar. To give them their full titles, the clubs are:

The Sovereign Insurance Rock Scorpions;

The In Line Framing Straits Sharks;

The Nature Group Europa Stormers; and

The Kedhlow Gibraltar Bay Buccaneers.

The clubs play in a league, consisting of nine games, playing each other three times over the season, with a Cup competition organised and played in April/May, at the end of the season. This year has also seen a couple of ad hoc games, against visiting Naval teams, where generally a Super IV's select team is pooled from the four clubs. The games have been played on Thursday evenings, this season, and where there are no games scheduled, in addition to the normal Tuesday training, there have been structured, GRFU organised, coaching sessions.

Refreshingly again the League has been very competitive, as it continues to be with each successive season, with some outstanding performances by all teams. For consitency, however the Buccaneers have stood out, to the extent that they had managed to win the league with three games still to play.

Congratulations to the Kedhlow Buccaneers
