member news Louisville Locations Partner to Support Angels in Disguise T hroughout July 2014, all seven Louisville, Kentucky-area Buffalo Wild Wings® partnered to support Angels in Disguise, a local Louisville charity that supports the awareness and education of Down syndrome. Similar to the unique positioning of Buffalo Wild Wings® in the restaurant industry, Angels in Disguise sets itself apart by celebrating Down syndrome as a gift. “It does so by creating events that focus on community connectivity and engagement, initiatives very familiar throughout the BWW brand,” states Derby Wings Management franchisee The $100,000 donation check is presented to the Michalak family, founders of Angels in Disguise. Eric Titus, who is heavily-involved in organizing the annual events. The fundraising campaign included several events leading up to the third annual Angels in Disguise golf event on July 25. First, the Louisville locations executed a marketwide Eat Wings, Raise Funds program July 10 and 17. In addition, they organized a Giddy-Up Gala featuring an auction on July 24 at the home of the Kentucky Derby, Churchill Downs. At the St. Matthew’s BWW location, Members of the Jones Group scramble team at the Tee It Up Fore! Down syndrome golf event July 25. the campaign was truly brought to life when the day was converted to Angels Day. “We invited individuals with Down syndrome, our Angels, to become a BWW team member for a day and partner with staff to deliver a truly memorable experience to the guests and community,” said Titus. With the help of media partners, like Louisville local television stations and ESPN radio, they were able to grow the campaign in 2014. There were more than 170 people at the gala and 192 golfers teed it up at the Quail Chase Golf Course. Through the combined events, they helped raise more than $135,000. Titus is grateful for all the backing the cause received. “Thank you to the BWW family that helped make our events successful. A special thanks goes out to John Bestenlehner, the Buffalo Wild Wings® regional manager in the market and the Jones Group, who came to town to support the cause.” There are even higher expectations for these events in 2015!
