Mass Bay Colonials At the 2018 Orlando Lacrosse Open What: In response to the overwhelming success of the Mass Bay Colonials’ debut at the 2014 FIL World Lacrosse Championships in Denver, CO, MBYLL is once again uniting our 100 town programs through our National Tour Teams and will be participating in the 2018 Orlando Lacrosse Open. For general OLO information, visit: Orlando Lacrosse Open Website When: November 30 – December 3, 2018 (games on December 1 & 2 plus optional theme park day). Where: The teams will be flying into Orlando International Airport, staying in hotels central to the tournament and playing in the Orlando Lacrosse Open at the Omni Championsgate Resort, Northeast Regional Park, and Celebration High School alongside teams from Florida, Georgia, Texas, North Carolina, Alabama, and Maryland. Who: The teams will be comprised of players from MBYLL town programs. Selected athletes will be chosen based on their performance and leadership qualities: youth players who not only possess first-rate lacrosse skills, but who embody the spirit and integrity of the sport and our league. How: Interested and available athletes who meet the criteria* will fill-out a brief application for nomination. After towns participate in an approval process, invited athletes will attend a league-wide tryout (multiple options). Impartial evaluators will build the team with up to 22 selected athletes per roster. How Much: If selected, athletes will pay up to $500 for the Mass Bay Colonials Participation fee. This will include tournament fee, uniforms, the Mass Bay Colonials helmet, and pre-tournament events and practices. Travel expenses (airfare, hotel, ground transportation, meals) would need to be secured separately. MBYLL aims to keep this as affordable as possible and will make no profit from the Mass Bay Colonials. MBYLL will also be seeking sponsorship to minimize athlete and administrative costs. Why: MBYLL is extraordinarily proud of the youth athletes, the coaches, and the programs that make up our league. We view this trip as an opportunity to demonstrate the preeminent caliber of lacrosse being played, taught, and administered in our little corner of the world. This experience will enhance the growth and education of the selected athletes as it pertains to his lacrosse development and will serve to celebrate and promote the importance of town-based youth lacrosse.
