Mass Bay Youth Lacrosse League

Character, Camaraderie, Community

Welcome to the Summer edition of The Scoop. I hope you are all enjoying some time away from the lacrosse field with family and friends. Mass Bay Youth Lacrosse League and our member towns and teams had a great spring season in 2015 capped off by two wonderful and sunny weekends in June for our Mass Bay Jamboree as well as the Mass Bay Select Championships. In July we honored our Mass Bay Select All-Stars at Gillette Stadium for four games on the home turf of the Boston Cannons and New England Patriots. As we look towards next spring, we remain committed to making your experience an even better one.

For all of us in leadership roles at the league-wide, regional, and individual town levels, it is about continuous improvement: of the season, the playing experience, the coaching, the officiating, the scheduling, communications, the competition, the celebrations—everything! Yes, what we do as a collective group needs to be guided by our mission (To Teach, Grow, and Honor the Game) and our philosophy and a focus on coaching education. When we commit to making the experience even better—together, for all participants—then the result is: we all win. Let's continue that tradition and focus for our 2016 season.

As a league, Mass Bay's player development focus remains on all of our young athletes building the following three key player traits: Character, Camaraderie, and Community. As we look forward to our 2016 spring season, let's all commit to reinforcing the development of these key traits in all our players. As leaders, coaches, and teachers of the game, it is up to all of us to continue to further develop the character of every player on our team, along with their sense of camaraderie and chemistry with their teammates, and their commitment to honoring the community they are a part of. And of course, always being a good sport regardless of the score.

We all succeed when we continue to work together. Please keep the feedback coming on what we can do to make 2016 season even better.

Thank you for being part of Mass Bay Youth Lacrosse League.
