A Commitment to Community

How Natick and Shrewsbury Youth Lacrosse are Giving Back

Cole North is a turf field used by Natick Youth Lacrosse for games and practices. Cleaning and freshening up the surrounding area is a Win-Win for the teams and the town. The boys cleaned mulch beds, raked grass, spread 18 yards of new mulch, and cleaned and hauled debris from the adjacent wooded area. They also had a group clean a small cemetery that is on the same road.

As part of the commitment to play on the Natick U15 select teams, it is a requirement to participate in a volunteer day. This started in 2017 with one team, and it expanded to both of their U15 select teams for 2018. 34 boys, 8 coaches, and a few parents participated in this day to help clean up their town.

“I feel strongly that we are lucky to live in Natick and have healthy kids,” said Natick Youth Lacrosse board member and U15 Select Coach Richie LeBlanc. “This is also a great opportunity to do some team building along the way. I hope to introduce the boys to giving back to their community in a positive manner and we can make it fun along the way.”

It was a day of work, but one that didn’t go unnoticed. The town was so impressed by the work that the Natick Youth Lacrosse teams received a “Certificate of Appreciation” from the Natick Recreation and Park Commission earlier this month.
