Practically in falsetto for his entire set , he tore through fan favorites “ With Me ,” “ Hallucinations ,” and “ The Line .” In addition to his own catalogue , he truly switched it up for the fans by covering Michael Jackson ’ s “ Billie Jean ” and Aaliyah ’ s “ One in a Million .” This made me realize two things : OVO is definitely having séances with MJ , and loving Aaliyah must be a pre-requisite to be signed by Drake . In both covers , dvsn showed out , outdoing any covers you ’ ve ever heard of either song , be it The Weeknd or Frank Ocean . And closing out with an epic showcase of “ The Line ” was the perfect end for dvsn ’ s set . He began the song by playing the piano and singing amidst a cloud of smoke ; it was so dope . Like whenever I picture an R & B nigga in my head , I will forever see that visual . He gave his heart and soul to the performance of his final song and bowed out to an uproar that was only beat out by Drake ’ s . While Roy Woods brought youth to the tour , dvsn brought the heart and soul to Summer Sixteen , and it was one of the best sets of the entire night .
The next wait required a lot of patience . However , it wasn ’ t a totally quiet wait for the next entertainer to take the stage . Dj T-Jizzle came to show the crowd some love , albeit everyone probably assumed that it was just Future ’ s DJ and his set was about to start . DJ T-Jizzle brought hella energy to the stage and you could tell that he was hungry . He got the arena on its feet and made the whole place shake for almost about 15 minutes straight . And then he left the stage as sporadically as he had appeared . Confusion hit Phillips Arena as the lights turned back on , and we waited for Future to come out . The crowd didn ’ t have a clue what was about to happen . “ LOOKING !” “ Summer Sixteen ,” the song that this tour is named after literally lit up the stadium . Drake rises on a square pedestal until he ’ s at stage level , and then everyone ’ s “ LOOKING FOR REVEEEEEEEENGE !” Although I had been expecting Future to perform first , I had no problem with Drizzy hitting the stage in the meantime . Drake owned his time slot , proving why he is the # 1 artist in music right now . His stage constantly changed changed , with platforms rising and falling . At one point , I thought he was going to perform Views in its entirety because he went from “ Keep the Family Close ” ( although him just vibing to the beat was enough of a performance to get everybody lit ) to “ Feel No Ways ,” which was the first sign that Drake was actually going to give us an A1 vocal performance tonight . Then he took us back to the Take Care era with “ Headlines ,” and my middle school memories were met with new college memories as I had a total fan boy revelation . Add “ HYFR ,” Trophies ,” and “ 0 to 100 ” to that combination and I ’ m high off life . By the time he proclaimed “ I should prolly sign to Hit Boy , cause I got all the hits boy !” I knew that I was in the presence of a true legend in the making . Say what you want about Drake ’ s career , but he will never be forgotten because of the vast amount of timeless music that has spawned from his work from less than a decade . Just in case you needed proof on the statement I just made , he performed a medley that was based around a chopped sample of “ I should prolly sign to Hit Boy , cause I got all the hits boy !” He RUSHED through 13 of his hits : “ 6 God ,” “ Worst Behavior ,” “ We Made It ,” “ Blessings ,” “ All Me ,” “ No Lie ,” “ Versace ,” “ Pop That ,” “ Over ,” “ I ’ m On One ,” “ Up All Night ,” and “ Crew Love .” Now you can surely think of a handful of his hits that could have been added to that medley , so imagine how long he really could have held that high energy medley for . Drake has so much music , that simply not knowing what song he would pull out next made the concert a blast . He had been on the stage for a while now , but he showed no signs of slowing down . Going back to popular cuts from Views , he and the DJ battled between his “ songs for the women ” and “ songs for the club ”; as a result , we got to hear “ With You ” and “ Child ’ s Play ” back to back .
