The Senior Citizens at St Columba’s Holiday Club met from 12th16th October in the mornings at 10.30 when tea and coffee were
served with lovely home baking by volunteers. We then split into
groups, either taking part in the craft activities or games. At the “paper
engineering” table, Ruth Nicol demonstrated how to make cards and
boxes while at another table, Marion Currans demonstrated the art
of Tatting. On one of the days, Bill Quinn told of his refereeing days
and brought along his football memorabilia. Each day there were
quizzes organised by the Minister and his wife, including 'Who wants
to be a Millionaire'. Each day closed with a short Act of Worship
when Rev George spoke on the “trypraying” programme. Everyone
during the week was given a “trypraying” booklet, and encouraged to
work through it, then pass it on. The week ended with a coach trip to
Culzean Castle and lunch. It was a very successful, interesting, friendly
and fun filled week. We hope after New Year to commence a monthly
mid week “Friendship and Faith” activity to be run on similar lines and
where all age-groups will be welcome.

This has been a very busy time for the Scout
Group. The Scouts and Cubs went to
Lochgoilhead Activity Centre for their
annual camp. The boys and girls had
a great time taking part in activities
on and off the water.
The Beaver Scouts have

Launch of Monthly Messy Family Fun
We’re planning to build on the success of our summer Holiday Club
by launching a monthly after-school faith and fun club in the Church
Hall. The new Club will run on the first Monday afternoon of each
month (except January) from 3.30 - 5pm. We'll start with snacktime before a programme of arts & crafts, Bible stories, music and
games. Bring the family straight from school! We'll have a special area
sectioned off for activities with mothers, babies and toddlers too. All
are welcome to the next MFF on Monday 7th December.
Christmas Activities
Our Christmas programme starts with the annual Family Party on
Saturday afternoon 5th Dec 2 - 4pm in the
Hall, with a visit from Santa. Our All-Age
Musical Nativity Play is on Sunday 20th
Dec at 11am, followed by mince pies in
the Hall. Our Lochhead Court Carol
Service is at 3pm on the same day. On
Christmas Eve 24th at 6.30pm we
have our annual All-Age Celebration
and will join with the town Churches in
John Knox Church later that night for the
Watchnight Service at 11.15pm. On Friday 25th the Christmas Day
joint service is at 11am in St. Columba’s Church. On Sunday 27th
we’ll have our annual Service of Lessons and Carols. All are welcome
at any or all of these Services. We wish all readers a truly blessed
Christmas and New Year.
