summer at
st. columba’s
church
Summer at St. Columba’s has gone very well
indeed with our usual Sunday Club end of
term All-Age Celebrations and Outing,
our annual Garden Party and the Children’s
Holiday Club.
The Garden Party is now held in the Church
Hall, but we have lots of plants and flowers
on display to make the place look as much
like a garden as possible. We raised over
£1,300 for the Church Development Fund
and are grateful to all from the community
who supported this event.
Our “big SPLASH” Holiday Club brought
lots of faith and fun to the children and who
took part and we are grateful to folks in the
Church and community who generously gave
discounts on items and helped in many other
ways. We plan to build on the success of the
Holiday Club by running a regular All-Age
Celebration in the Church Hall on the first
Saturday of the month. It’s being called the
“Saturday 1 Club” and is open to people of
all ages. We have high hopes that this venture
will attract families whose loyalties to Sunday
sport, music and leisure means they can’t make
it on Sunday mornings. We look forward to an
active autumn which will include a visit Service
by the Rt. Rev. John P. Chalmers, Moderator
of the General Assembly. Mr. Chalmers will
share in the conduct of worship at the October
Communion Service.
