Another busy term for 1st Stewarton Boy’s Brigade
All sections are busy as ever and our final
numbers looks like finishing just under
90 overall, which by today’s standards
is a healthy number. Always looking to
improve and as recently as 4 weeks ago
we managed to continue to attract new
recruits, with 1 new start and 4 lined up
for a start next year.
We had our display recently and after an
entertaining night we presented various awards
to all sections, finishing with 7 President’s
and 5 Queens Badges. We also presented a
discharge certificate to one of our boys who is
now 18 and has served for 14 sessions.
Our Anchors boys as well as their normal
Company night, went to Cumnock where
we joined boys from the rest of East Ayrshire
Battalion, to have a morning of soft play,
colouring and crafts. It was a good morning
enjoyed by all.
Our Juniors attended various Battalion events
including Supergroup (Where we managed
to secure 3rd place). We also went to the
Battalion cross country in Dundonald. As part
of our Easter break, we took the boys down
to a farm in Kilmaurs, courtesy of James and
Jennie, so thanks to them. The boys saw how
a modern farm works, and highlight seeing
where the robotic milking took place in the
main milking shed. At the end of April we
took the boys down to The Lighthouse Church
in Troon where we spent the weekend. The
boys had a great time with a programme that
kept them busy and well fed, key to every
camp’s success.
The boys made some new friends at the farm!

Antics at Junior Camp...
Our Company and Seniors have been
working towards their final badge work, with
7 president’s/5 Queens and 3 boys working
towards their Queens. We attended a ten pin
night during the Easter break and also joined
the Junior Section at the Cross Country where
we won a gold and a silver medal. We also
attended the Emirates Arena to see Glasgow
Rocks Basketball, a great night and would
highly recommend it.

Finally on behalf of the officers and boys,
many thanks for the endless support and help
we have received this session (Especially our
coffee morning where we raised £1000!)
