It’s really important that they stay fit and I do also, so sometimes even when I feel a bit tired, I have to pull on my jodphurs and make sure I give them the work that they need.” As well as her championship victory and countless wins in the last twelve months across the UK, a major achievement this year has been her qualification for the prestigious Royal Highland Show in June with her two ponies Dinky and Spot. One of the youngest riders to qualify for the final, Codie admitted that it was a dream come true to be taking both her ponies to the final. “I had Dinky for 18 months and he was actually sold just before Christmas last year, but the people in England who own him gave me him back to ride so that I could try and qualify for the Highland Show – something that I really, really wanted to do.” Codie missed the first three qualifiers due to other commitments, and with only eight venues across the UK hosting the qualifiers for the Royal Highland Show, a long trip to Aberdeen ensued followed by a nerve wracking three days. In spite of some stiff opposition Codie finally realised her dream when Dinky and her new ride ‘Spot’ – a striking Apaloosa pony, both booked their place in the final. Reflecting on her achievements she said “I’m still getting to know Spot because I haven’t had him long, but I’m beginning to grow in confidence each time I ride him, and I love him and Dinky to bits. It would be a nice thought to win at the Royal Highland Show, but just being there and doing the best we can is just as important. I hope as many people as possible can come along on the Sunday to cheer me on.” Hart & Sole For Canine Holidays SHOE REPAIRS Sit in or take range away cafe Delicious of Home Now selling Baking, handbags, sweets & jewellery! made on the premises. 27 High Street, Stewarton Mon - Fri: 9-4 Sat: 10-4 Full Dual Control Discounts on Block Bookings Reduced Rates for Students & Unemployed Intensive Courses Available Douglas Dickson DOT ADI 46 Kirkmuir Drive, Stewarton Mobile: 07732 564 567 Telephone: T e: (01560) 482107 Serving Stewarton 30 years KEY CUTTING SHOE & HANDBAG REPAIRS 7 Avenue Square, Stewarton 07988 403594 CUTSTRAW ROAD, STEWARTON Dogs exercised daily Bright airy kennels Fully licensed & insured Mon - Fri & Sun (10-2 & 4-5) / Sat (10-2) Contact Avril McLean on 01560 482527 / 07816 321340 e: [email protected]
