Kilmaurs
SHOW
Kilmaurs Show on Saturday 15th April at the Scott Ellis Playing Fields,
Kilmarnock was a busy day. We had the usual Kilmaurs Show activities
and also the Ayrshire Association of Young Farmers’ were hosting their
Rally Calf competition and Tug-o-war. The day went well with the
weather being mostly kind to us with only a couple of heavy showers.
RESULTS WERE AS FOLLOWS:
Cattle:
Best Dairy Animal in Show - M & J Montgomerie, Newlands Farm, Kilmaurs.
Best Fresian Calf - Cameron Montgomerie, Newlands Farm, Kilmaurs.
Best Beef Animal in Show – Sean Kennedy, Bogside, Coylton.
Best Calf in Show – Cameron Montgomerie.
Clydesdales:
Champion – Auchengree Clydesdales, Kirkintilloch
Companion Dog Show:
Best Dog in Show - Janet Kirkwood with Inca.
Reserve Best Dog in Show - Reeta McSherry with CMI.
Best Puppy in Show - Jane McKinnon with Nico.
Industrial Tent:
Savoury & Sweet Section – 1st = Jenny Howie and Janice Shepherd
Foursomes Competition – Craigie Rural
Novelty Classes – 1st equal (all with 3 points) – Katie Barr, Riley
Hendry, Jenny Howie, Cameron Montgomerie and Logan Thompson
Best Overall Senior Exhibit – Kate McInnes
Children’s Competitions:
The children’s articles were:
1. Snowflake
2. Christmas Cracker
3. 2 x Cookies for Santa
4. Favourite Christmas Stocking
The winners were: 6yrs & under - Olivia Currans.
7-10yrs - Katie McCall. 11-15yrs - Alison McCall.
The winner of the 75th Trophy (Best Overall Junior Exhibit) was Alison
McCall for her Christmas Cookies.
School Poster Competition - “Fruit & Vegetable Poster”
For the first time, the prize winners were all from the same school - Kilmaurs P.S.
1st -Ayla Murphy. 2nd - Sophie Dean. 3rd - Sophie Borthwick
For fun at the end of the day, we held an Inter-show “It’s-a-Knockout
Competition” and Fenwick Show were the victor’s on the day, with the next
round due to be held at Stewarton and Dunlop Show on Saturday 27th May.
