1 ST STEWARTON BOYS ’ BRIGADE captain ' s comments
Our Sections have had a busy start to the year . Our Anchor ' s have visited the local Stewarton Fire Brigade which was a great night for the boys and thanks to all the firefighters who gave up their time . The Anchors themed badgework this year so far included Emergency services and also learning about Stewarton . We also joined boys from East Ayrshire Battalion to see the Entertainer Uncle Billy . An annual visit but a great time for all the boys . The Juniors have taken part in various events and competitions . The Battalion general knowledge quiz saw us pick up gold medals for 1st place . Teams of 4 boys competed with questions on different topics . We also took part in a Supergroup competition which is a series of physical and non physical challenges , where we picked up 3rd and 4th place with
only 2 points splitting the 2 teams . Events we have held as a Company include ten pin bowling visit and also a trip to the Killie v Ross County match ; another new event which was enjoyed by all the boys and staff . Our Company and Seniors took part in the Annual drill competition where we retained our title with our Senior team finishing in 1st place . Other trips include a visit to the Experience in Hillington for Laser quest and a meal . We have 8 boys working towards
their Presidents badge , 3 boys in year 2 of their Queens and 3 boys in year 1 , as well as 3 boys in middle of their Silver Duke of Ediburgh . Our annual camp is planned this year for August at PGL centre in Dalguise , Perthshire which takes place in August . Recently we held our Annual Coffee morning , a well supported event by boys , staff , parents , Church members and the Stewarton Community who turned up in numbers to raise an incredible sum of nearly £ 1,300 !
