T : 01560 485153 5 High Street , Stewarton E : kate . mckenzie1 @ yahoo . co . uk after a successful public launch on wednesday 24th august , the informal action plan steering group has begun to organise the work to progress the 5 action themes set out in the stewarton community action plan .

These are :
community safety : The plan sets out initiatives to re-instate the Police Office ; increase the Community Police presence in the Town ; and target drug and alcohol ‘ hotspots ’.
town appearance and the environment : It is planned to tackle dog fouling and litter ; provide play parks ; improve landscaping and upgrade the town centre .
housing and infrastructure : This theme will address public services ( including the medical centre ); the provision of shops , businesses and other commercial properties ; and housing developments . Roads , Traffic and Parking : It is hoped to develop and improve pedestrian and cycle paths ; address traffic management ; and investigate parking arrangements .
community spirit and facilities : It is intended to address the improvement of local sport and leisure facilities , including activities for young people ; the funding for community events and projects ; and the promotion of local heritage and history . The work will be progress by a Working Group formed for each Action Theme . The required resources include people , enthusiasm , existing community assets , and current or newly formed community groups . Members of the informal Action Plan Steering Group have come forward to act as initial contact points for the formation and conduct of each Working Group . These are :
Community Safety : Graham Piggott ( grahampiggott @ btinternet . com ) Town Appearance : Ellen Freel ( ellenfreel1 @ btinternet . com ) and Alice Wallace ( alicewallace @ talktalk . net ) Housing and Infrastructure : Jim Frame ( jmwframe @ gmail . com ) Roads and Parking : Robert Whiteford ( robertwhiteford @ yahoo . com ) Community Spirit and Facilities : Margaret Campbell ( magsandwullie @ btinternet . com ) Ewen Logie ( ewenlogie @ hotmail . com ) Gills McDaniel ( gills _ artys @ hotmail . com ) and Annette Waddington ( annettewad @ aol . com ) The informal Steering Group has listened to what the community has said in the surveys and the various public events , and the resulting Action Plan now belongs to us all . The Working Groups can lead on the work to develop the Action Themes but the Community Action Plan will only succeed if additional people come forward to take an interest in progressing one or more of the various priorities .
