Saturday 11th June will see young local performers
take to the stage once more in the family favourite
event, The Chloe Hume Foundation Talent Show.
The Chloe Hume foundation was set up in memory of Chloe who
passed away very suddenly aged 14, in October 2010. Its purpose is to
achieve what Chloe would have achieved if she hadn’t had to leave us to encourage and support children and young people in the community
through the performing arts, while improving literacy, confidence and
self-esteem. It’s about enjoying life and having fun, after all Chloe
didn’t waste a minute of her all too short life, and she made sure
that the vibrancy and fun she created was shared equally between
her beloved friends and family. ‘I am in no doubt that Chloe would
be delighted with the foundation and what we have achieved in her
name’, Paula Hume, Chloe’s Mum and Foundation President told us.
The annual talent show has proved an extremely popular
event, adopted by Stewarton Bonnet Guild as one of the
main events on the opening day of the Bonnet Guild
festival which this year begins on Saturday 11th June.
‘We have two age sections – Primary and Senior’. Paula explained, ‘The
primary section is for children aged 11 years and under and the senior
section is for 12 to 18 year olds. This means we will be giving away
two first prizes of £100.00 and two annual trophies. It also means the
younger contestants will perform in the first half of the show so they
will not be too tired or too nervous waiting to perform. We want all
of our competitors to enjoy their moment in the spotlight and to have
a fabulous experience they will remember forever. Also, thanks to a
generous donation from the Granary, in Stewarton, we are introducing
a new prize, an annual trophy, The Granary Cup and a cash prize, for
non-vocal performance which includes dance, mime and everything
in between and will be awarded to a stand-out act on the night.
All winners will also receive an invite to perform at our Christmas
Extravaganza which debuted last November and was a huge success’
Indeed the Christmas Extravaganza was intended to be a
one off festive thank you to the town for their support and
encouragement but the foundation, the performers and the
audience all voted to make it a regular event. The date is still to
be confirmed so watch this space – it is not to be missed.
‘The Foundation has grown this year, we have four new members
but we are always looking out for additional members. We are also
hoping to get together a young group to manage our social media
accounts – this is something we will look
