The main part of the consultation has been those attending to vote for the themes, The Steering Group will now consider these survey forms, which were also made available carried forward into the Action Plan. Over made during the community surveys and the distribution of over 3077 household online. In total 1531 of these surveys were completed by local residents of all ages. This represents a return rate of 51%, which is very good for a survey of this type - the total number of completed household surveys being the largest response to any community survey of this type conducted in East Ayrshire. The Steering Group also organised a survey of opinions within the local business community, with contributions being received from 16 local traders. In addition, 23 face- to-face interviews have been conducted with individual persons and representatives of local organisations. The information obtained from the consultation has been collated, and was made available to local residents at a Public Event in the Stewarton Area Centre on Saturday 14th November. The objective was to enable projects and actions they would wish to see the course of the day 343 people visited the event, which also provided a showcase for local performance talent and the over 50 community groups that exist within Stewarton. The initial outcome of the voting during the Public Event is a top-ten list of topics to be addressed by the Action Plan. These are: • improving sport and leisure facilities • dog fouling • the impact of new houses on local services • improving facilities for young people • improving and creating pedestrian and cycle paths • re-instatement of a local Police presence • utilising derelict buildings and empty shops • improving traffic management • drug and alcohol misuse • car-parking matters, and all the other contributions subsequent feed-back, for inclusion in the Action Plan. It is hoped to complete this work by the end of August. The Steering Group is very grateful for the support of all the local volunteers who worked so hard to distribute and collect the survey forms; and the East Ayrshire Council Vibrant Communities Staff who collated and analysed all the information. Now the Group needs assistance in writing the Plan.
