Simply Saints After Easter is a wonderful time: the scriptures speak of Jesus, after his resurrection, coming to see his friends; appearing simply, as a gardener to his dear friend, Mary Magdalene. It speaks of the men who thought he was a ghost, and how Jesus had to prove himself to them by eating a piece of fish in front of them! What could be better than Peter jumping out of the boat when he saw Jesus on the shore? During this time we are also remembering our Pope John XVIII—a simple man, who along with Pope John Paul II will be named “saint.” Pope John said saints are not superstars but humble sinners ready to allow God to love them. This comes from laughing at our own quirks and humbly enduring the quirks of others. So from thinking of those first saints, friends of Jesus whom he loved, to these two famous Popes, we come to ourselves. We are simply saints, too—when we find the risen Jesus in all we serve, in all areas of Providence; when we laugh at ourselves, support others and find joy in the reality that God loves us. Pope Francis reminds us that we are saints as well, simply saints. Sister C See you around, and keep laughing, Marching for Healthy Babies In Texas, 1 in every 7 babies is born premature. Babies who survive a premature birth may suffer lifelong consequences. The March of Dimes is dedicated to reducing premature births, birth defects and infant mortality. Because of the importance healthy babies are to healthy a community, Providence is proud to partner again with the March of Dimes as the presenting 2014 sponsor of March for Babies; and on April 12, TEAMPROVIDENCE gathered at Floyd Casey Stadium to march for healthy babies. Our Providence team showed just how much we care about healthy babies, as we raised over $6,700…and the money is still coming in!! Combined with our $15,000 sponsorship donation, Providence will donate over $22,000. This year’s top fundraising team is the 3rd Floor!
