Stepping out in Faith
by Christa Chappelle
Stepping out in faith has been a life-long lesson
for me, and God has found many ways to teach me.
Moving to Waco and coming to Providence is one of those lessons. All of my life I lived
in North Carolina, mostly in the same region. I attended UNC Asheville, majoring in Mass
communication. It was in the last semester of my senior year that God called me to ministry.
Taking a step of faith, I attended Wake Forest University School of Divinity in WinstonSalem, NC, to earn my Master of Divinity degree. During my Clinical Pastoral Education
(CPE) internship at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, I realized that chaplaincy was my
true call to ministry. After graduating from the divinity school, I returned to Wake Forest
Baptist to complete a two-year CPE residency. During my residency, I was endorsed by
the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship and became a provisional board certified chaplain.
Christa Chappelle
is our newest
Providence chaplain.
After my residency, I prayed that God would lead me to the right clinical setting. Once again, I had to
take a step of faith and fully trust God. When I came to Providence in early March, I knew that God had led
me to the right hospital. Everyone has been very welcoming and I am happy and excited to work here. I look
forward to working with everyone in the future!
