Providence Foundation Awarded Grants for New Technology Providence Foundation was established in order to continuously provide needed philanthropic support to the Providence Healthcare Network. Over the past 20 years, Providence Foundation has provided Providence with millions of dollars in capital and program funding. Such generosity from donors helps our caregivers in patient care areas across the network provide safe, effective and compassionate care. The Providence Foundation’s Fall Grant Presentation Ceremony awarded approximately $156,000 for the purchase of: Hologic Fluoroscan InSight Mini C-Arm Arthrex Shoulder Arthroscopy Instruments PDQ Infrared Oven GE MAC5500 EKG Two Philips Respironics V-60 BIPAP Machines Two Bladder Scanners Click Here to see pictures of each of the large checks, and full descriptions of how such wonderful technology will help over 4,000 patients throughout the year and many to come! Providence Golf Classic – Good Fun for a Great Cause by Jenny Peel, Annual Gifts Director The busy fall season has come and gone, and we’ve wrapped up yet another successful Providence Golf Classic. It’s hard to improve upon a good thing, but thanks to the effort put forth by our golf committee and our dedicated volunteers, we did just that! The tournament was held on October 11, 2014, at Cottonwood Creek Golf Course. Nearly 180 golfers hit the links evenly split between the morning and afternoon rounds, and we have photographic evidence that a great time was had by all! Jenny Peel, Kraig Turpen, Dr. Russ Perry, Dave Guyer Under the leadership of golf committee chairman, Terry Hayes, we added a luxury raffle option, valued at nearly $3000. The raffle package consisted of a helicopter hog hunt donated by G&T Outfitters, a Grizzly cooler donated by Glazer’s, and an annual membership to The Gun Cleaners of Waco. The luxury raffle was a huge hit, and we look forward to adding even more exciting packages to the next tournament scheduled for October 2014. Dr. Marcial Lewin won the helicopter hog hunt, and believe me, he was one happy camper, er, hunter, when he learned of his big win! All in all, the tournament netted an all-time high of $74,000, and we can’t thank our sponsors, golfers, committee members and volunteers enough for their support. Forum members Ellen Derrick, Nikki Rhea, Dr. Cayce Connell, Caroline Wolf, Heather Keahey, Cheryl Crenshaw, Brandi Ray, Meagan Hoefer, Kim Gooch, Mark Felton, Leah Stewart and Carolyn Haferkamp lent a helping hand on the day of the tournament, and we were most appreciative of the time and effort they generously put forth. (A special shout out to Carolyn Haferkamp for recruiting a few employees from Central National Bank to come to the rescue, too!) While special events are just a piece of the fundraising pie, they are vital to the success of the Foundation, and, likewise, to the extent at which we are able to benefit the overall mission of the Providence Healthcare Network.
