“You’re seriously gonna eat those?” I said making a slightly disgusted face at him.

“Yes! Why not? They're so fun, c'mon Mia, we can do it together.” He hands me the other cookie from our table.

I take the colored plastic off of the edible item.

“Ready?” I hesitate, but nod. “1...2...3…!” and we break the cookies. I take the tiny slip of paper out and read it.

‘Your life is in danger. Trust no one, tell no one. You must leave the city immediately and never return. SAY NOTHING.’

My heart dropped. And suddenly I felt like I was being watched. From there I just wanted to go straight back to my apartment and forget what just happened! I lived with my aunt who was never home. My family is dead, they all died in a car accident when I was on my way home from the hospital.

“Mine says, ‘Never doubt anyone. You can find the bad in a good person just as easily as you can find the good in a bad person’. He grinned.

“What does yours say?”

I smiled at him and contemplated whether I should tell him or not, but of course, if I didn't share anything with him he'd only get suspicious. I had to lie. “You are very optimistic,” I smile.

“Do you want me to take you home, or back to the school to get your car?” He asked holding my hand as we left our tip and walked out.

“Um, yeah to my car, would be perfect” I told him.
