“Ambyr, Austyn, are you two studying for the biology test Monday?” inquired Garnet. The three girls met at the start of their first term and hit it off immediately.

“We were, but got a little bored,” replied Austyn. Garnet rolled her eyes and walked into the library.

“Garnet! Garnet! Garnet!”

“Do you need something, Kelley?”

“Yes, can you help me with my math?” Garnet gave him the stink-eye, but agreed.

When Garnet left the library with Winston, Doyle, and Riley, they almost immediately ran into Skiler and her posse.

“Hey dogface, I see you’re still friends with those three, but don’t worry, they’ll come to their senses and abandon you like Alysse here did. Isn’t that right?”

Garnet was fuming. “Well at least I don’t have to blackmail people into being my friends.”

“Burn!” Riley and the twins exclaimed in unison.

“What is going on?” A short but very stern brunette-haired woman asked the crowd of people.

“Nothing Mrs. Maisyn.” Garnet answered the teacher.

“Obviously something happened, you seem angry.” Mrs. Maisyn replied with a questioning look, but walked away. Garnet, although, did not show any sign of emotion.

“You’re crazy, dogface!”

“‘And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music.’ Friedrich Nietzsche,” Garnet calmly reposted. “The German philosopher, we talked about him in English the other day.”

Skiler’s posse walked off. One of them called back “teacher’s pet” at Garnet and she knew they were talking about Mrs. Maisyn taking a liking to her, and coming off as a favorite student.

“Like we said before, ignore them. Shall we get lunch, it’s almost 1:00.” Winston pointed out.

“I’m not hungry. I need to ask a teacher a question. You guys go.” All three of Garnet’s friends knew what teacher and the question, but didn’t say a word. Garnet could be stubborn, and the only one who could change her mind was Winston, but he knew he couldn’t this time.
