FAITH magazine has a new editor,

A
drive through the Borders on a cool rainy
afternoon.. glorious countryside, and good company. Our
destination, not so beautiful but just what we wanted: a printing
company on an industrial estate, and an excellent meeting to
discuss the layout and design of a magazine of
which I have just been appointed editor.
FAITH magazine, based in Glasgow, has been
running for some 40 years, and is linked to the
FAITH Movement, which was founded in 1972
with the aim of “advancing the Catholic faith in the
modern world by working together to attract many
to discipleship of Jesus Christ.”
FAITH is inspired by the Second Vatican Council’s
desire to renew the Church and re-evangelise the
world through “a deeper vision of Jesus Christ
our Lord and God as the key to the meaning of the
universe and of our own lives.” (Those quotes are from
the Movement’s own literature, and you can find out
more from the website www.faith.org.uk).
forging friendships
Like so many others, I owe a lot to the FAITH
Movement: I have glad memories of attending its
summer courses years ago for young Catholics,
and forging friendships that have lasted and lasted.
The FAITH Movement has good links with the
Ordinariate, and its regular London evening meetings
are held at the Ordinariate church in Warwick Street
– or, rather, at the church hall, accessed at the back
of the church, 24 Golden Square London W1. The
new autumn series of talks starts this month: every
alternate Tuesday, excellent speakers, pizza, wine...
more information from that website link.
FAITH magazine’s is administered by Sr Andrea
Fraile of the Sisters of the Gospel of Life in Glasgow.
The Sisters were established in the year 2000 following
Cardinal Winning’s pro-life initiative and do wonderful
work helping pregnant women and their babies.
Taking on the editorship of FAITH is a big challenge,
but I’m enjoying it. The September/October issue will
tackle topics linked to the forthcoming Synod on the
Family in Rome, but there are also features on a range
of issues, and just for readers of The Portal I will
reveal that there is a special interview of Ordinariate
interest. Plus pictures.

Working with Sisters Andrea and Roseanne is very
enjoyable. They are known and loved in Glasgow for
their good work. They run what can only be described
as a warehouse offering everything that mothers and
babies need, plus all sorts of long-term practical help.
They offer a great network of friendship and support,
all done with professional skill and true Christian
caritas. There is a lot of love and laughter, hard work
and comradeship.
The FAITH editorial team includes Mgr Patrick
Burke, administrator of St Mary’s Cathedral,
Edinburgh, Fr Luiz Ruscillo of Lancaster diocese, and
Sister Andrea. Our trip to the printers in Tweedbank
Industrial Estate proved extremely useful - the new
