Joanna Bogle DSG is excited about a
new venture
I
t’s official:
The Ladies Ordinariate Group now has a
formal existence, and will have a constitution, AGM, and a status
as an organised group.
LOGS has already been
flourishing for two years. It
began in a rather dreary room
in a South London church a room that has since been
restored to its original use as a
sacristy and to its original glory
with a fine Victorian ceiling and
cupboard-lined walls. LOGS,
having in any case swiftly
outgrown the room, watched
its transformation with joy and
meanwhile grew and grew…
We wanted to do something
useful, and see where the Lord
might take us, rather than
spend a lot of time talking about
ourselves and our structure. So
the whole venture has had a joyful pace - and here we
are, two major schools projects and a wide range of
meetings, pilgrimages and events later. And now we’ve
made ourselves official.
goodwill and much good humour
It happened at Walsingham - we went there to pray,
ponder, and make decisions. We stayed at the Anglican
shrine, where we were made most welcome, and went
to Mass at the Catholic shrine just up the road and
at the Catholic Church of the Annunciation in the
village. Surrounded by the beauty of Walsingham, and
in a spirit of goodwill and much good humour, we got
to work.
We organised our programme for next year, we
planned expansion of our projects for primary
schools, and we arranged our autumn and winter
activities, including carol singing and our craft stall at
the Towards Advent Festival.
a welcome awaits you
Then we paused and got to grips with who we are

and our long-term future. It proved much easier than
we had thought. We know who we are and what we
seek to do. So we’re now formally constituted as a
national group, following a thorough discussion and
unanimous vote and sealed with a prayer of dedication
at the shrine of Our Lady of Walsingham.
Any woman who accepts unequivocally the teachings
of the Catholic Church as set out in the Catechism,
and the mission of the Ordinariate of Our Lady of
Walsingham, is most welcome to join us.
Contact us via the Church of the Most Precious
Blood, 22 Redcross Way, London SEI 1TA. See the
Ordinariate website for news of our activities in the
months and years ahead.
Who are we? For the record, foundation members
include: Chairman: Joanna Bogle. Secretary: Kathie
Kempton. Treasurers: Lesley West and Shirley Briant,
plus a lively committee, on which we hope to be joined
by representatives from enthusiastic new local LOGS
groups…
