THE P RTAL September 2014 Page 21 The Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham Festival 2014 Will Burton is anxious that we attend W hen I am asked about the Ordinariate, and I am often asked, people want to know not just what it is, but how it is. By that, I mean how is it organised. I usually tell them it is like a diocese, but spread over the whole of the United Kingdom. no substitute for meeting each other There are Ordinariate Groups in England, in Wales and in Scotland. That is quite a wide area for the Ordinariate to cover. Of course, with modern communications it is easier. We have the telephone, mobile phones, e-mail, FaceTime and Skype. Nevertheless, there is no substitute for actually meeting each other. We may see and hear Mgr Keith Newton on our computers, but how often do we get to meet him? How often do we get to meet Ordinariate members from other parts of the country? It is for everyone! we are, and what we are doing. We shall celebrate Holy Mass together in Westminster Cathedral and, after lunch, we shall be addressed by His Eminence Cardinal Vincent Nichols. As the afternoon draws to a close, Mgr Keith Newton, our Ordinary, will deliver his “Charge” to us. There is a Reception at Golden Square on the Friday evening, addressed by Dr William Oddie, and Sunday Mass will be celebrated at Warwick Street.
