The third year of
the Ordinariate Mission
An overview of the past two years of the Ordinariate in Australia
Australia’s original
four Ordinariate Priests, who were from Melbourne’s Anglican
Church, recently celebrated their second year of ordination to the Catholic Priesthood on the 8th
September, the festival of the Nativity of Our Lady.

Fr Neil Fryer is the assistant priest for that parish. Fr
Christopher Seton, Rector of the original Ordinariate
parish of St Benedict, that continues to meet at Holy

Grant, who organises various activities of out-reach
and evangelism on behalf of the Ordinariate, which
include Chaplains without Borders.
As the Ordinariate in Australia enters into its third
year of mission, we can look back with amazement to
find that the Ordinariate has now spread all around
Australia, from the Torres Straits at the north of
Queensland right down the eastern coast, with three
parishes in Queensland, a Group of Ordinariate
people in Sydney, and a new Ordinariate mission
in Mullumbimby, NSW. There are two Ordinariate

The Ordinary, Monsignor Harry Entwistle, has encouraged all
Ordinariate members and supporters in Australia to join him in
developing the Ordinariate Supporter’s Network
“In this the third year of our existence, the reality
is that most Catholics in Australia do not know
that we exist, or at best have only heard about us in
passing,” Msgr. Entwistle said. “Having established the
foundations of the Ordinariate in Australia, we now
need to turn our attention to spreading the word as far
as possible – this is vital to our Evangelical mission.”
“There are many people who are supporters of Pope
Benedict’s vision to bring the gifts of our patri-mony
into the Catholic Church, but for many differing
reasons are not worshippers with us. My invitation is
for those peo-ple to become a Supporter by joining
the Ordinariate Supporter’s Network.” “I am asking
Ordinariate members to ask these people to join the
