THE P RTAL May 2014 Page 3 Portal Editorial A Few Changes at The Portal Since the beginning of the year, we have been publishing The Portal in three editions: one for Australia, one for the UK and a full edition. Reactions seem to suggest that this is unnecessary. So from this month onwards, we shall publish just one edition of twenty-four pages. You will also notice some changes in our layout. These are designed to help you navigate your way round The Portal. We hope you like the new look and the new layout. Future Events As we trailed last month, there are some exciting events planned for the Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham in 2014. Our Pilgrimage to Walsingham on 28th June, our “Called to be One” day on Saturday 6th September, and our First Annual Festival over the weekend of Friday 19th to Sunday 21st September 2014. Walsingham 2014 Our annual Pilgrimage to Walsingham is on Saturday 28th June 2014. There are posters, so make sure you have one and display it. Be sure to come yourself, and bring as many people with you as you like. The more, the better! If you do not have a poster, contact us at The Portal and we will make sure you get one. You will, no doubt, see information about these events elsewhere; so our job – for now – is to highlight them and encourage every member of the Ordinariate and every reader of The Portal, to take a full part in them. Called to be One Chrism Mass The “Called to be One” day will be our opportunity to welcome people who may have little or no idea about the Ordinariate, or indeed, what an Ordinariate is. Although nationally organised, it will be locally run. The Chrism Mass in Holy W eek was a splendid affair. Once again we were able to welcome the Papal Nuncio, His Excellency Archbishop Mennini. We at The Portal are sure we speak for all members of the Ordinariate when we express our heartfelt thanks to His Excellency for his attendance, support and message. This year the church seemed fuller than ever, so perhaps this is becoming one of those “must be present at” occasions? The Portal does hope so. First Annual Festival For our First Annual Festival we are especially happy to welcome His Eminence Cardinal Vincent Nichols. He will speak on Saturday 20th September in Westminster Cathedral Hall. Space will be limited, so it very important that members of the Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham do reply to their invitation stating whether they are able to come or not. If you have not had an invitation, we apologise. It does not mean you are not wanted, merely that the records are not as they ought to be! Just contact The Portal, and we shall issue you with one. contents page Pilgrimage to the Holy Land There are but a few places left for this. If you wish to be with us in the Holy Land in November this year, you really do need to get your skates on and book your place today! Will Burton
