hat is, or should be, the Catholic response to the episcopal ordination
of Libby Lane in the Church of England?
Back in our Anglican
days, when some of
us used what was called the ‘ecumenical argument’
against women’s ordination, we were gleefully told
that since the Holy See had declared Anglican orders
‘absolutely null and utterly void’, the RC attitude to
women’s ordination in the CofE was irrelevant and
immaterial.
