THE P RTAL January 2014 not the sort that involves chopping up wood. I mean LOGS, the Ladies Ordinariate Group. The 2014 project is one that you might like to ponder . . . could be that you could join in too. Read on. Greater London’s Anglican and RC primary schools The London LOGS group – involving ladies from the South London (Precious Blood), Warwick St, and Croydon Ordinariates – is running a big project for children in all of Greater London’s Anglican and RC primary schools. It is being run in association with an ecumenical group, and some (modest) funding has been made available. learn the Lord’s Prayer The project is a simple one. The long-term aim is to ensure that every London schoolchild has an opportunity to learn the Lord’s Prayer. We are starting with church-based schools. A simple brochure is going to every C of E and RC primary school in Greater London inviting the children to copy out the Lord’s Prayer, in handwriting, and to decorate and illustrate it in any way they like. Then, in one paragraph, the children must answer two questions:” What does ‘hallowed’ mean?” and “What are trespasses?” special commemorative gift Funding is available for prizes for the best entries, and every child taking part will receive a special commemorative gift. Some of the best entries will be displayed in a London church. We will offer to send someone to a school to present the prizes, perhaps at a morning assembly, if appropriate. And there are various other associated activities. run a similar venture This is a London-based project. But an email to me via The Portal could link you in, too. Is there enough energy and enthusiasm in your Ordinariate group to run a similar venture? We can send someone to talk to your group and explain how the thing is run. The explanation would also include discussion of some Auntie Jo a n LOGS and the Lord’s Prayer LOGS, LOGS…no, Page 4 na wri tes funding assistance. the Great Commission by Christ Himself The aim of the Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham is to bring Christ to the people of our country. This is all part of the New Evangelisation, and evangelising is not an optional part of being a Christian. We’ve been given the Great Commission by Christ himself, and our poor tired country, with its complicated family breakdowns, its miserable rate of youth crime, its suicides, its banal ugly fashion fads, its brutal architecture, so badly needs Christ. a noisy bunch The London LOGS team is an energetic one: we like to think that it’s the coffee and cake and laughter that does it. We are a noisy bunch, and we enjoy our meetings. But we do pray together, too – and in that bond we find the greatest unity of all. carol singing at a railway station LOGS ran a most successful stall at the recent TOWARDS ADVENT Festival at Westminster Cathedral Hall, at which handmade gifts – scarves, calendars, jam, notelets, and more – proved immensely popular. As we go to press, the next venture is carol singing at a major London railway station. Then the schools project takes off in January. Remember us in your prayers – and email me if you think this schools venture is something that could work in your area too. Joanna Bogle DSG
