Jackie: There is something so familiar about it, like it’s in my genes but I don’t know what it is. Mgr Lopes: Because it expresses so well the centrality of Jesus Christ and the salvation he won for us on the Cross. Fr Geissler: What is important regarding liturgy is that many Ordinariate groups used the Roman Rite before because it has an order there. When in celebrating liturgy everybody makes it different, this is not really healthy because a rite should be something you are familiar with; something that helps you to enter deeper and deeper into that very mystery that you are celebrating. I think the rites that come out now will be of great help. Page iv Mgr Lopes: The truth is the truth. Jackie: Many Catholics in the UK would appear to know little or nothing about the Ordinariate. Others are less than complimentary about it. Do you have anything to say to these people? What advice would you give the Ordinariate when dealing with this situation? Mgr Lopes: Bless them and do not curse them! People say all sorts of daft things It is out of ignorance or perceived knowledge and the only way to overcome that kind of thing is to be yourselves and to live an authentic, beautiful, Christian life. That kind of authenticity will silence all your foes. Fr Geissler: I would say, make yourself known. I think it’s right that many Catholics do not know you, but you do a great job with The Portal, so that is, I think, one way to make yourselves known.
