Friends of the Ordinariate by Catherine Utley

Three months into my role as fund raising co-ordinator for the Friends of the Ordinariate , it ’ s clear to me that the job is mainly going to be about raising awareness of what the Ordinariate is to the wider Catholic community .
So many of my own Catholic friends have not properly understood that Anglicans who join the Ordinariate are fully a part of the Catholic Church , that they can receive the sacraments in any Catholic church and that we ( and by this I mean cradle Catholics ) can receive communion from Ordinariate priests and have our confessions heard by them .
Anglicans longing for unity Catholics need to understand , too , about the great

spiritual energy which Ordinariate clergy bring with them and about how all those traditions and all that history that the Church of England has embodied through the centuries now have a place where they can be shared by all . Perhaps there are Anglicans longing for unity who need to understand this too .
St Mary ’ s Church , Cadogan Street SW3
To raise awareness , the Friends of the Ordinariate are arranging an Epiphany Service at St Mary ’ s Church , Cadogan Street , London , SW3 , on Thursday 10 January at 7pm at which the Ordinary will preside . The readings and prayers will be from the new Customary of Our Lady of Walsingham and the music will be led by the Catholic Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School ’ s Schola Cantorum . Admission is free and my hope is that the church will be brimming with cradle Catholics , Anglicans , Ordinariate members and anyone else who is interested . It promises to be a beautiful evening . Let ’ s also make it a real show of Christian unity !
