THE P RTAL
April 2013 Page 12 lend paintings
“ There is a lot of administration too . We lend paintings to various bodies and there are Health and Safety forms to be filled in . That is very boring ! I share a studio . There are three big ones . It is nice to be with other people . My Line-Manager is very good and we all ask advice . It is a good place to work .
quite stretched at the moment
“ We are quite stretched at the moment . I work three days . One day my husband has the children . The youngest has a child minder , the middle one goes to Pre-School and our eldest is at school and the After- School Club . I leave at 0700 and get back at 1830 . The journey is an hour each way , but the train does go straight to Charing Cross .
a lovely job to work on beautiful objects
“ It is a lovely job to work on beautiful objects . It is not glamorous and it is very slow ; but it is interesting and no one will ever know that painting better then you . All of the paintings I work on are National Gallery ones . We do have visitors who come round . They are mostly Curators .
“ The job was advertised as full-time , but some of us who applied could not work full-time . We asked if we could go part-time and two of us got part-time jobs . I have worked at the National Gallery since 2007 .

Throughout the centuries one of the goals of the Christian has been to visit the Holy Land . It is an intense and powerful experience to be in the Holy City of Jerusalem and in the Galilee and richly brings the Old Testament , New Testament and the waves of postbiblical history alive . It helps us understand not only our own faith but also that of Judaism and Islam and the emotions that have dominated and still dominate the Land . These days of pilgrimage can leave a lasting impression that enriches our life at all levels .
