Free JSO ensemble visits for children
and families at SJC public libraries
The St. Johns County Public Library
System will be hosting a series of free
Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra ensemble visits for children and families
at select branches during the month of
October. Thanks to the Barbara A. Kay
Foundation Grant, awarded to SJCPLS
earlier this year, children will have an
exclusive opportunity to interact with
JSO ensemble members, learn about
multiple instruments, and enjoy a mix
of short musical pieces. While the
programs are geared toward older preschool and Elementary-aged children,
SJCPLS invites the entire family to attend. For more information, visit www.

‘St. George and the Dragon’ at Christ

comedic fantasy written and directed

‘Stone Soup’ at Limelight Theatre
Limelight Theatre presents “Stone
Soup,” a one-act musical version of the
old folk tale. Performances are Oct.
23 at 5 p.m. and Oct. 25 at 11 a.m. on

Players-by-the-Sea 50th season
Players-by-the-Sea kicked off their
50th season Sept. 18 with “La Cage Aux
Folles.” The play will be performed
through Oct. 10. The remaining 20152016 season is as follows:
• “A Behanding in Spokane” Nov. 6-21
• “Godspell” Dec. 4-20
• “Cotton Alley” Jan. 15-30
at 8 p.m. at The Lightner Museum, 25
Granada St., St. Augustine.
Saxophonist Joe Yorio will play soprano, tenor, and baritone saxophones
and the alto sax for Dave Brubeck’s
jazz classic, “Take Five.” Other music
on the program includes “Rossini’s
Overture” to the” Barber of Seville,”
“Brahms’s Hungarian Dance No. 5,”
“Grieg’s Peer Gynt Suite No. 1,” baroque music by Handel and more.
Tickets are $20 for adults; $5 for students with ID. Children 12 and under
are admitted free. Tickets are available
