Local dramatic reading tackles issues of memory loss

The community gathered on Thurs.
Oct. 29 at the University of North
Florida for a reading of Absence, a
play by Peter M. Floyd about Helen,
a strong-willed wife and mother who
begins to lose her memory. Many local vendors and companies that deal
with the aging process on the First
Coast contributed to the event, in-
cluding Arbor Terrace of Ponte Vedra
and Ortega, Concierge Home Care,
Haven Hospice, Atkinsons Pharmacy, Northeast Florida Community
Hospice, the Alzheimer’s Association
Central & North Florida Chapter and
APEX. The reading was presented by
The Five and Dime Theatre Company. The free play reading also included a reception and vendor fair before
the reading.
Representatives from Silver Rehab, the Rehab company at Arbor Terrace Ponte Vedra, included Johanna Smithers, OT, Bob Barnhard, PT and Greg
Trace, MS,MSPT.
